A 66-year-old male who is known to have chronic bronchitis has presented to his GP with a history of gradually increasing breathlessness and wheeze.  He takes salbutamol and beclomethasone inhalers and has recently been started on timolol eye drops for glaucoma and omeprazole for heartburn.

In this patient what steps would you take to improve this patientís symptoms?

a)      Increase the dosage of inhaled salbutamol and beclomethasone

b)      Add in oral steroids
